Two Old Friends, Together Again

The Minnesota Symphonic Winds will re-ignite a tradition of presenting an occasional joint concert with the renowned St. Olaf Band. The program will feature the music of Northfield composer Daniel Kallman, performed first by each ensemble and as a combined mass band. Major works include the engaging second movement of David Maslanka’s powerful Symphony No. 5, and the full Symphony No. 1 by Carl Holmquist, subtitled “A New Orleans Symphony” written during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina
